Jalapeño Skillet Queso

Directions

Cook the sausage

1. Brown the breakfast sausage in a cast iron skillet until fully cooked. Drain excess grease if needed.

Add the cheese

1. Reduce heat to low. Add the Velveeta or white American cheese, shredded pepper jack, and evaporated milk to the skillet.

Melt low and slow

1. Place the cast iron skillet over low campfire heat. Stir often as the cheese melts, making sure it does not scorch the bottom.

Add the sweet heat

1. Stir in the chopped jalapenos and a splash of jalapeno juice if you want extra flavor.

Serve warm

1. Once the queso is smooth, creamy, and fully melted, serve straight from the skillet with tortilla chips!
